Four Students Shot Dead By Soldiers in Nasarawa

Four students from Nassarawa State University were on Monday shot by security operatives during a protest organised by the Student Union over water scarcity in the institution.

The victims were among hundreds of students who marched along major streets protesting scarcity in water and electricity supply. Mid-way into their protest, some soldiers started firing indiscriminately to deter the advancing crowd surging forward which left no fewer than four persons dead. Reports says the casualties may rise above that figure.

Spokesperson of the Nassarawa State Police Command, Micheal Ada, confirmed the killing but denied that the shots were fired by police officers.

Details still trickling in.
